The Coronavirus outbreak is concerning for everybody.
Please be rest assured we will continue to provide the best possible veterinary care we can to you and your pet.
Animal welfare and health is very important to you and to us, but human health understandably must be prioritized.
To help with the fight against coronovirus , the veterinary profession is allowing only urgent and emergency treatment to be carried out at the practice. More routine treatments can be carried out over telephone or video calls where possible.
Vaccines and Routine Neutering
After an initial period of more severe restriction, from Tuesday April 14th we are once again now able to offer the most urgent vaccinations. Urgent vaccines are those for most puppies , kittens and rabbits and some adult dogs and cats. See our vaccine information page for details.
In addition we are able to offer some neutering of pets ( particularly cats going outdoors ) where urgently required. If your pet requires neutering please ring us to discuss what our options are.
Please click to check our opening hours.
If you call at at time when Good Companions is not open , your call will be automatically redirected through the Bishops Stortford Hospital, where we provide a 24 hour a day, 7 day per week emergency service.
Please be aware , when you visit the practice , you will be asked to stay in your car. The vet or nurse will call you and discuss the reason for the visit, and will then collect the pet from the car. Once an examination and treatment is completed the vet will call you again to discuss everything and return the pet to your car.
Please assist us by bringing with you an means of payment that can be delivered over the phone.
We appreciate this will be cause considerable inconvenience, but we thank you in advance for assisting us in continuing to offer essential veterinary care under the current difficult circumstances.
If you are self isolating then please tell our staff and do not come to the practice.
Under normal circumstances we offer home visits for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately due to current social distances requirements we can only now offer home visits in cases where no other alternative is possible. Please call us to discuss if you feel a home visit is absolutely essential.
The situation is changing rapidly and we have to adapt , but our aim is to continue to provide the best possible veterinary care despite the current difficult circumstances .
The Good Companions Veterinary Clinic is a small animal practice seeing dogs, cats, rabbits, and a variety of smaller species. We pride ourselves on the compassion and empathy we offer our patients and their owners.
All staff are pet owners, hence we understand and sympathise with the feelings and concerns our clients have for their pets. We feel we build a close relationship between owner and vet, which improves the quality of care we can provide to your pet, and the support we can offer you during worrying and emotional times.
