COVID 19 – updated :04-01-2021
England entered national lockdown coronavirus restrictions on 04th Jan 21 till February or beyond. .
You can be assured that because we have been working in a Covid Secure manor since the start of the pandemic, these new restrictions should have only a small effect on the way we provide veterinary services. We will update these pages when further clarification becomes available.
The Coronavirus outbreak and the need to follow government advice is changing the way veterinary practices provide their services.
Please be rest assured we will continue to provide the best possible veterinary care we can to you and your pet, but please bear with us as we all adjust to the “new normal”.
Where appropriate some non emergency problems can be handled with a phone consultation .Our staff can give further advice on this.
If you are self isolating then please tell our staff know and please do not visit the practice.
The situation continues to change and we will adapt , but our aim is to continue to provide the best possible veterinary care despite the current difficult circumstances .
Can I come into the practice with my pet
Please be aware , when you visit the practice , you will be asked to stay in your car and phone to let us know you have arrived . The vet or nurse will call you and discuss the reason for the visit, and will then collect the pet from the car. Once an examination and treatment is completed the vet will call you again to discuss everything and return the pet to your car.
We need to do this for the safety of both clients and staff and in order to safeguard our services.
A 15 minute appointment face to face would break social distance rules, therefore risks virus transmission. Examination rooms are not large enough to keep the vets examining your pet , and you as ,the owner, two metres apart.( the distance still required for a prolonged face to face indoor interaction).
As well as being unsafe, having clients in the practice rooms will create a large network of “contacts”. This means, should a recent client or a staff member become ill with Covid 19, we may have partially close and suspend offering some services as staff are required to self isolate.
We appreciate that this causes significant inconvenience but thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
Please assist us by bringing with you a means of card payment that can be delivered over the phone.
Vaccines and routine neutering
We are once again now able to offer vaccinations. See our vaccine information page for details.
In addition we are now able to offer routine neutering of pets. Please note there may be a longer than usual waiting list for this service.
Under normal circumstances we offer home visits for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately due to current social distances requirements we can only now offer home visits in cases where no other alternative is possible. Please call us to discuss if you feel a home visit is absolutely essential.

The Good Companions Veterinary Clinic is a small animal practice seeing dogs, cats, rabbits, and a variety of smaller species. We pride ourselves on the compassion and empathy we offer our patients and their owners.
All staff are pet owners, hence we understand and sympathise with the feelings and concerns our clients have for their pets. We feel we build a close relationship between owner and vet, which improves the quality of care we can provide to your pet, and the support we can offer you during worrying and emotional times.
